Rumors are flying that ‘N Sync will perform together at the MTV Video Music Awards, set to take place this Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Former band mates J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick are scheduled to join Justin Timberlake on stage for a special performance after Timberlake receives the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Timberlake will be honored with the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his “pioneering and innovative impact” on music videos.
A reunion performance by the ‘90s pop group this Sunday would be their first performance since their break-up in 2002. While ‘N Sync’s initial split was only temporary, the band parted ways when Timberlake decided to focus on his solo career.
And we all know how that turned out for Timberlake. JT—as he is known to his loving fans—has skyrocketed to fame.
Timberlake is nominated for 6 VMAs this year, including Video of the Year for “Mirrors”. Timberlake is second only to Madonna in total VMA wins with 14, including his work with ‘N Sync.
So is there any truth to the ‘N Sync reunion rumors?
Last Friday, the ‘N Sync crew was spotted in the VIP section for Timberlake’s show with Jay Z in Miami. There are also reports that the pop group held rehearsals for a possible VMA performance.
One thing that is for sure (at least for now) is that this potential reunion is “No Strings Attached”. A full reunion concert tour has not yet been scheduled.
